We are devouring the resources of our only planet. We are destroying it for ourselves and for future generations.
And the material that embodies the situation is - without any doubt - plastic.
You cannot imagine a world without plastic. You depend on it. It’s in your clothes, your phone, your car, your food packaging, your house, your toys: everywhere. And it is threatening your existence. Your toy gun became real and is now pointing at your head.
In a world of programmed obsolescence and obsessive consumerism, it has been the perfect fuel for the narcissistic and capitalistic orgy.
In the beginning, plastic was revolutionary. It made life easier. And it lasted forever, which turned out to be the very problem.
Plastic doesn’t break down like organic material. It will stick around for centuries, disintegrating into smaller and smaller fragments that enter the food chain, the air, the soil and the water we drink.
Somebody said that we are what we eat. We eat plastic. We eat ourselves. We fuck ourselves.

My work consists of sculptural readymades of masturbation sex toys for men, showing these objects on an exaggerated scale, in order to emphasise their absurdity.
My intention is to generate debate around the conflict that arises around hedonistic and egotistic views about our world resources. The pieces explore outdated patriarchal views of the world, where mother nature is just there as a mere property to be used and exploited by men.
The sex toys on display are made of thermoplastic elastomers and turned inside out, consuming themself, in a visual allegory of today ́s desperate situation of the environment. The fascination and disgust that those human-like body pieces produce are just a mirror of how most people perceive the thought of the rise of artificial intelligence, the consumption of laboratory growing meat, human genetical modifications, the robotisation of society etc.
Boundaries between man and machine, the natural and the artificial, are transforming at a faster speed than our human condition can properly grasp. What is seen as a new world of possibilities and extraordinary potential for some people, is a terrifying, dehumanising, anxiety-filled vision for others. Art, as it has happened before, will be the playground where all those changes will be explored, analysed, documented, questioned - being the testimony of the eternal human friction with life changes and hopefully leaving a testimony behind so the future generations have the opportunity to not make the same mistakes.
